Our Mission
Our mission is to foster a passion for tap within the dance community. By allowing students to develop their own unique style and tapping voice and by giving them the technical fundamentals to enable them to do so confidently!
Our aim is to train students in such a way, that they feel both competent and confident in any class when they venture into the real world and that they look and sound professional when doing so. We aim to produce tappers who have all the necessary skills to pursue a career as a professional tap dancer whether this be as a teacher or performer!
By giving teachers a fun and technically challenging format and by providing a syllabus that encourages individuality and creativity, we aim to put the fun back into Tap whilst engaging both students and teachers and giving them a firm understanding of rhythm and its possibilities!
Our Story
Like many dance teachers, Christine grew up with dancing - in fact her mother, Lynette Denny had a very successful dance school in Mackay, QLD for over 40 years.
Completing her tertiary dance education in the UK, she returned to Australia and began teaching.
What started out as a few hours a week quickly grew into a full time occupation and saw Christine teaching tap to hundreds of students each week all over Sydney at many of the country’s leading performing arts institutes and dance schools.
20 years on she wanted to collate, document and share what she had learnt and taught during this time.. The result is TAPATAK OZ!! 20 years of specialist tap tuition all neatly bundled into a series of very user-friendly DVDs!
Our Products
The Tapatak Oz System gives you 20 years of experience at your fingertips. "Step by step" DVD instruction and "count by count" manuals for class leave nothing to chance. Add to that a fantastic array of original music CDs covering genres from swing and ragtime, to funk and rock, and you have a comprehensive system that inspires and delivers.
Tapatak Oz is so much more than a Tap Syllabus. It is a wealth of teaching knowledge. Tapping tips that have been garnered from a lifetime of teaching, fantastic amalgamations, exercises, warm ups and oodles of chore! There is simply no other system like this!
